Call Me By Your Name (2017)

Based on André Aciman’s novel, this movie made by Italian director Luca Guadagnino will take you to the warm summer of 1983 in northern Italy. Oliver, a young scientist from the USA, is staying at the Perlman family home for 6 weeks to help the professor Samuel study Greco-Roman culture. He becomes a neighbor of 17-year-old Elio, who spends summers with his childhood friends reading books and playing the piano. At the beginning, Elio is unfriendly to the new guest but later the great friendship is developed between Elio and Oliver. The great camera work of Sayombhu Mukdeeprom will allow you to enjoy the lovely images of Italian nature and the sounds of melancholic indie of Sufjan Stevens emphasize the idyllic summer atmosphere and the pain of the first love.

L‘Ami de mon amie (1987)

The center of this romantic comedy is a few young residents of a newly established suburb of Paris. Blanc, who works in the culture department of the town hall, became friends with Leah. Later, she introduces Blanc to her to good-looking friend Alexander, who quickly develops some feelings for Blanc. And Leah is stuck in a boring relationship with Fabian. Like almost all the movies of Éric Rohmer, this one talks about young people, love relationships, and everyday life. Parties with friends, walking in the parks or by the lake and constant movement are the companions of these suburban residents. Director Éric Rohmer writes witty dialogues without looking too seriously at relationships, sometimes putting the characters into absurd situations. There is an equal part of time to discuss love affairs and summer vacation while watching this comedy.

Grease (1978)

Grease, one of the most popular musical comedies of all time, immediately became a summer hit when it appeared in cinemas. During the summer holidays, Sandy and Danny, two teenagers meet on the beach. There is mutual sympathy between them, but at the end of the summer, the young people have to break up. Fortunately, the parents of Sandy decide not to return to Australia and stay in America. Both young lovers start attending the same school, but there are more and more misunderstandings between them. The plot of the movie is supplemented by a few other characters and their stories. While the duo of Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta are not reminiscent of students now, the popular songs of Grease are still associated with summer and remain one of the favorite summer movies. The charisma of the two main actors is undeniable, they really captivate with their energy.
